We spent a lovely few days here for a birthday celebration with the whole family including dogs. It's a very comfortable house with plenty space for us all. There was also a barbecue and large patio set, which was great given the good weather. The house is in a super location next to the Crinan canal with loads of walks and cycle routes on the doorstep. Mike, the owner, was very helpful and quick to respond to any queries.
Relaxing large family homeMay 2019
The house was very comfortable and suitable for a large group, with a magnificent dining room looking over the canal. The breakfasting kitchen and small pantry were spacious, although a second or larger fridge would have been useful. The two front bedrooms upstairs overlook the canal and there are comfortable seats arranged to take in the view. There was a useful covered space for cycle storage too. The location was perfect for cycling and for gentle walks along the canal tow path and with the added interest of castles and ancient monuments. A longer expedition was to the Island of Gigha, seen at its best on a beautiful sunny day. This is a lovely house to stay in and I would recommend it.
A brilliant location for exploringMay 2019
We loved the house and the garden, lots of space for us all - granny, children, grandchildren. We enjoyed being right beside the canal and the locks, seeing the boats coming and going, and how the locks worked. The tow path is a great place to cycle or walk, or just enjoy the view. Close to supermarket in Lochgilphead. Various historical sites to visit - standing stones, museum at Kilmartin, Tarbert, beach at Machrihanish beautiful. Lovely drives along to Crinan ferry and the end of the canal at the harbour (you could also walk or cycle this), Tayvalich and Carsaig - great views over to Jura and Islay. The 'boys' took the ferry over to Islay for the day and a whisky distillery tour. A very enjoyable, relaxing week for us all. Would love to visit again.
Great family holidayJuly 2018
We booked the house for a long weekend in May to accommodate six adults and four children. It turned out to be perfect for the occasion as it was even more spacious than the photos suggested. It was also very clean, comfortable and well equipped. We were fortunate to have warm, sunny weather and took advantage of this to make good use of the space both inside and out. The canal path was perfect for walking, running (plodding) and cycling. The owner, Michael was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any queries we had prior to our visit. Overall, it was an excellent venue in a beautiful location which I cannot recommend highly enough
Fantastic house in a beautiful location.June 2018
The house itself is majestic and just perfect for a family with pets attached, namely my 3 labs. The internal dimensions are surprisingly generous and both kitchen and bathrooms are family orientated. All are beautifully appointed and surprisingly towels are provided in bathrooms and indeed bedrooms. A nice but important little detail. All in all we were greatly impressed and I have already recommended the house to my eldest son who lives in London with his wife and daughter. My daughter has urged us to return next year, and we will!
Peace, tranquilty and a whole lot more.November 2017
